How is work progressing on The Seer of Grace and Fire which is coming out soon?
So, things are moving right along with the beta reading process for The Seer of Grace and Fire which is volume number 1 of my new dark fantasy series.
This is the first time that I have had both a beta reader and an editor and I wanted to try out the full process at a professional level for this series. The beta reader has stated that she will work the trilogy which is an extra added bonus.
We are in the last few chapters of the books. I am currently on chapter 15 and the beta is on chapter 17 and we are quickly approaching the climactic ending of the book which leaves you anticipating the next. There are three books in The Seer of Grace and Fire series.
Book 1 is 20 chapters and we should be able to speed to the end in the beta process now that we are almost done.
When will the book be published?
The book will be released some time in April, I hope, as after we finish the beta process there is still proofreading, formatting, the ARC early reader review process, content evaluation, the editor and editing process, final proofread, and then final approval of the galleys of the book.
What is this special bonus I hear about in this book?
The Seer of Grace and Fire has an added treat. There are chapter opening illustrations for each chapter in the book. This tradition will follow for all the books in this series. I have also completed the black and white cover art for all three books which will eventually be coloured. The illustrations feature the main characters in the series in different poses and activities. There are a total of about 50 total illustrations for the series. Wow, now that is a lot of drawing!
What does production look like?
Production on The Seer of Grace and Fire started in September 2016 with the writing of book 1. Book 2 and 3 were written in November 2016 for NaNoWriMo . The illustrations for book 1 and 2 were done between November – December 2016 with a few for book 3 in January 2017. Beta reading started in December 2016. There are about 8 illustrations left to do for book 3. Luckily cover art is done for all three books. Not hinting on the cover, there will be a cover reveal when it is time for book 1.
The editor may take 2 weeks and then the formatting/proofreading will take place for another week or so. Hopefully all this will be done quickly so we will have a book published by end April.
