Figure: “Timorn Ethesian Brotherly Love” by Natsuya Uesugi
So I have been doing concept art for The Seer of Grace and Fire and wanted to share the final image from Book 2, The Seer of Ice and Sky (novel and manga). This drawing I think has a certain feel of kindness and compassion between two twins who have been through a traumatic experience. The drawing features Ethesian, the Dream Seer with the long hair comforting a wounded Timorn, her twin and the newly appointed Faerie King after the battle of Akrisia, the Elven city when the Dragon King attacked Timorn and his army of half-dragons and then when the demons attacked after the initial fray. This scene evokes a warm feeling and shows the softer side of Timorn, and his vulnerability and emotions as the young ranger who overnight became the leader of an entire kingdom. It also portrays a soft side to Ethesian and her love of her elder twin brother who she both looks up to and is responsible as the Dream Seer to give him council as he will lead the Faeries in the land of Arenth.
The inspiration for the background to this image was to provide a #coloringpage or #coloringbook page for readers as well due to the intricate wall art. Usually I do not draw backgrounds but I wanted to take this opportunity to branch out in my concept art and provide other avenues for the drawings.
At this point there is concept art to open every chapter of Book 1. There are 20 drawings for Book 1. There will be 15 drawings for Book 2, and I believe there will be 10 drawings in Book 3. Each of the pictures are related to a scene in the book and are carefully placed at chapter openings to ensure that they align with the topic of that chapter.
I like visualizing my characters in black and white lineart and I hope that it helps the reader to create a visceral response to the personalities and visuals from the book. I hope you enjoy the line art I provide from this image to the other concept art that is available.

This is the last scene in Book 2 and will lead into Book 3, The Seer of Flesh and Death where Ethesian will be tested by the lure of dark magic and Timorn will face the mortality of the flesh, with a death that could possibly tear his heart apart and rip at his sanity.
Enjoy.
