I just launched my Patreon page and am reaching out for patrons to help support my art. You can find the page at: Natsuya Uesugi on Patreon
I have spent the last 7 years writing novels, drawing manga and creating illustrations. All this has been self funded and let me tell you it has been a very expensive endeavor. I wrote a blog post last year about not using Kickstarter and doing everything myself but with the printing of the grydscaen RPG Trading Card game we have come to a new understanding. I have had a change of heart about considering having patrons but I don’t know if I will be successful.
I know that a lot of artists have hordes of fans or friends ad family who support them. I am on my own and have little support from family for various reasons as I am half way around the world for work. Sometimes I can relate to Elliot’s loneliness on the show Mr. Robot. The depths of the quiet can drive you mad at times if you let it. I spend the time on my art so that I don’t get bored and so that I keep the creativity alive in my heart which keeps me focused.
I started to Patreon page to continue my mission of bringing a blasian voice to mainstream cyberpunk, dark fantasy and yaoi with strong LGBT characters in positions of power relaying the message of equality, technology, net neutrality and diversity.
I hope that you will check out my Patreon page and consider supporting my art. A small monthly patronage of just $1US would be a big help to me in getting my works published and printed.
Thanks in advance for taking an interest and considering being a patron of the arts.
