grydscaen RPG card update
Wanted to talk a little about the Wands skill card suit today from the grydscaen RPG Trading Card game. Since my trip to India, I wanted to use some of the new information that I learned. The culture in India is so rich and diverse. I thought I would use some of my appreciation for the art in the card. This card which pictures the virtual reality gridscan game avatar Omnibus from the game Omnibus Darklight reminds me of my trip. I like her a lot. Besides the fact that she took 3 hours to draw which is like a lifetime, I think she came out exactly how I pictured her in my head. The Wands suit cards can be used by both player and opponent and include psychic powers and other skills that can enhance game play. This card allows the player to participate in an online gaming session and battle an opponent. Roll the dice to determine if you win or lose the game on your turn.
I wanted to also include the word “love” on this card in both English and Hindi, and I hope that my rendering of the Hindi word is not butchered with my script. So, I apologize if I got it wrong. I think it enhances the feel of the card. I used the inspiration of the goddess Lakshmi who represents wealth and prosperity. There are multiple virtual games in grydscaen including Simulatrix, a war strategy game and iNAX Simulation, a social media game to name a few.
I just wanted to share this new card with everyone as we get started on the Wands suit. Only one card created today but I think Omnibus encompasses a lot of the feel of the cards in the Wands suit. Enjoy the artwork as I go back to working on the grydscaen RPG Rule book.
grydscaen RPG box design update
The box design is coming along. We have a dieline which I just modified today to include three flaps at the top to ensure items do not spill out of the box. Will have to work on graphics again due to the changes. Made a test out of posterboard and tape which worked out fine. And the file is already in Adobe Illustrator format with fold and cut lines. Seem I did remember and learn something at art school last year. Work will continue as we add the graphics for the final box. Luckily the printer said that they can also make the boxes so we have a one-stop shop for all things belonging to the game at this time. And it will all be printed in country so that is wonderful. I like it when I support domestic manufacture.
grydscaen RPG cards and the printer
So, since I like to put myself in the starving artist category we have put off going to the printer until we have all the cards done and the box design. We were going to go today but I decided at the last minute, even woke up early to take the files that we will leave this till next year as there are still cards to design. All the Major Arcana (hacker, opponent and supplemental) cards are done, along with the Cups attack suit cards and the Coins steal suit cards. That makes 51 cards (rules and artwork) completed with 15 of those still need to be put in printer format. There are 27 cards remaining that need to be designed. Since I am doing artwork for the cards which do not use icons we need to plan out what image is on each card. The last set of artwork was the hacker affiliate cards in the Coins suit which 4 of those images were done in the last 3 days. I like the freedom of taking my time to get all the artwork done. Then there is also the rules for the backs of the cards which are required. So far this experience of designing cards which are all planned out is going fine. I hope 2017 brings the same flow as the cards already completed.
Thanks for listening.
