I am so excited to share with you the cover of the next book in the graphic noiz novella series. Book 3 will be out in another few weeks. This cover features Shiro Ijima the bestselling writer as he works on edits for his scifi novel Fissure volume 4. All the previous covers have featured Noiz the manga artist in some way but I wanted Shiro on the cover of book 3 because the story in this volume focuses on him and his reactions to the abuse that he experienced in the past.
Shiro has a touch exterior and a narcissistic personality. He is arrogant and a womanizer picking up his female fans and going out on one date then dumping them mercilessly. He gets a taste of his own medicine in book 3 when something from his past comes back to haunt him.
Where are you in the writing process for book 3?
Currently I am writing the last chapter in book 3. We hit 31,563 words which is about where the other 2 books came in so we are right there at the cliff hanger for this book. The graphic noiz YA series is a set of novellas so I can write them relatively quickly as they are not full novels. They can be read in about 2 hours and allow me to create a compact story for each volume as we follow Shiro and Noiz as they work on creating the Fissure manga.
We have done two rounds of proofreading for the book already so I am not really worried about that. The editing process will probably start today after I finish the volume tonight.
When will the book 3 be available?
Book 2 was put up for pre-order for about 2 weeks like book 1 in ebook format but I made the paperback for book 2 available before the ebook. I think book 3 we will not do a pre-order. Book 2 will be available 14 February so that is tomorrow. There seems to be some good interest for the graphic noiz series so far and I am looking forward to showing it off at ComicCon. Book 3 will not go on pre-order so once it is done I will make the ebook available and the paperback may follow a few weeks after it as all the formatting has to be done differently from ebook to paperback. Look for graphic noiz book 3 sometime around 20 February.
What about the graphic noiz manga when will it be available?
The graphic noiz manga volume 1 is available now in paperback and ebook. It is 7 chapters of manga goodness and takes place between book 1 and book 2. Work on volume 2 of the manga will start in about 2 weeks after I get the story straight and will take place sometime parallel to the action of book 3. I will not have the manga totally copy the story of the novella series but it will compliment the original story.
What is graphic noiz 3 about?
Book 3 in the novella series highlights Shiro Ijima and follows the writer through some serious trials that we were not privy to in the earlier books. Where book 1 and 2 focused more on Noiz, I turned it on its head and made book 3 mainly about Shiro. Shiro had a past episode where he had flashbacks of the abuse he suffered at the hands of his mentor Katsuhiro when he was 19 and working on his original manga Dawn. An event happens in book 3 that triggers these flashbacks and sends Shiro spiraling out of control. We see a slightly vulnerable side to his usually arrogant and harsh exterior. The past comes back to haunt Shiro and his family gets wrapped up in the drama including Jade and Julia. Keita the agent and Shiro’s editor Megumi are also drawn into the downward spiral.
Who does all the cover art for graphic noiz?
As a writer and a mangaka, I do all the cover art for the graphic noiz series and draw all the illustrations for the manga. I find it alot easier to write a story than to draw it so you have to bare with me as I am working on my art as we go. I spent about 5 years in art school studying animation and graphic design so I have some training but mostly it is me trying to tell a sequential story. I think I can tell a story well so please bare with me as I try to improve my artwork. I have come a long way since my first manga and graphic noiz is my third and I am still trying hard to make you proud of me as both a writer and an artist.
