November brings a new book in the grydscaen series entitled grydscaen: metropolis. We are hard at work trying to get the book ready for release on November 30 and we can’t wait to have it out for readers to enjoy. I wanted to talk a little about the process of writing metropolis today and give you a bit of a teaser of the ware game Silence which is prominent in the story to get your jazzed for the release. Are you ready? Let’s Play.
Silence is a ware game in grydscaen like the military war game Simulatrix and social media game iNax Simulation. Silence was created by the SenseNet and provides the player with a “hacker-like” experience. Play the hacker in the game and attack systems and the Corporation as you gain reputation points, use virus tokens to wage infiltrations into government systems, and stock up on credit tokens for each successful attack. Your reputation is your life in the game so don’t be shy, talk yourself up and get into it. As much of a strategy game as a role playing game, Silence has a malicious side to it as well. In addition to giving the jacked in player a great endorphin high, Silence can be deadly so watch yourself. Will you risk it, gamer? Are you elite? Take a ride. It pays to be Silent!
In grydscaen: metropolis the game Silence is pervasive and has an effect on the main character Faid in the Packrat Sprawl. I wanted to have a ware that was dangerous as well as a great centerpiece to the story making a commentary on modern gaming culture. The Packrat Wastes are gamers by their very nature but Silence can be deadly and has its effects on Faid in the storyline. Can Faid beat the system. What will the came do to the Packrats. Ware is part of Waste culture and is encouraged. When the young player Jewel gets caught up in the play, will Faid steps in or has he already become a slave to the system?
Silence has colourful level badges that can be won at each level achieved. The badges are coveted. Come see Natsuya Uesugi at anime conventions to claim your badges at his table. I know you want one…
Welcome to Level 10: At Level 10 in Silence, you get the chance to play with other online gamers. Your task is to make affiliations and join online hacker groups. Form your own group and recruit other hackers to ally with you to attack the Corporation.
See you at Level 20: At Level 20 you get a trip on the inside. Your social engineering tactics worked and you get into the Corporation building. What will you find on the Secretary’s desk. Sift through her files and see what goodies are there for the taking. Can you get into the CEO’s office? If you dare, there is loot there for the taking. Are you game?
Know thyself at Level 30: The game takes a crisis turn. You start feeling dizzy as you play. What could be happening? The stakes are higher as you get into the Top Secret files and find intellectual property secrets you can sell to the highest bidder on the black market. But beware hacker, the higher you go the more dangerous is gets.
Are you ready Level 40? As you infiltrate and get in deeper your friends turn on you.. Can you stay above the fray and continue on in your mission. Your head hurts and you can’t figure out why. Open the treasure chest and give yourself a healing potion to bring your life points back up to maximum. But be careful, there are things in the background that are happening and others trying to take you down.
Watch Your Back Level 51: You are almost there. With one more data point you can take down the corporate. You got through the firewall, stole the Top Secret data and now you need to put it into action. Can you beat the game or will it beat you?
Silence = Death Level 60 Wins or Game Over! You did it and got to the end. Session terminated. Can you get the ultimate Silence badge and claim your title as an elite hacker or will the game do you in? The endorphin high is stellar but watch yourself, there are traps and plants at this level. No one is your friend. Do you dare, hacker? Execute the final attack to see if you can beat the system.
