Cover Reveal for the new cyberpunk novel, grydscaen: dark.
Hackers Unite. Hack Till You’re Dead.
I can’t tell you how excited I am to release grydscaen: dark to the world. The 266 page book was published on 25 June, 2018 and is a techno thrill ride through hackers infiltrating the stock market and attacking the Elite government. We are currently running a blog tour which I hope will help to get some exposure for the series and highlight Rom the character on the cover. Rom is a 16 year old Level 9 elite hacker who has a cybernetic implant in his arm that stores top secret data he obtained after hacking into the Parliament. The government wiped his memory and threw him out on the street.
The cover of grydscaen: dark features my drawing of Rom against a backdrop of the slum level Echelons and the high rise buildings that dominate the landscape. The Newsfeed building is front and center and the cover is majestic with its high tech, low life cyberpunk feel and the threat of nuclear destruction in the background.
So what makes grydscaen: dark stand out in all the books in the grydscaen series? Well, it is a triumph emotionally as it was written at a very trying time in my life. My father died and my hatuskoi came into my life causing chaos and destruction. I was unable to write for a while because my emotions were tied up but I broke through and finished the 56,000+ word novel and brought it to life.
The grydscaen series also has a new home which is a triumph of sorts in and of itself. We will get to see the full potential of the series over the next year with the rerelease of current books and the publishing of the rest of the series. We will see the entire grydscaen series released in rapid fire one book after another with each release taking a month through production. This is a fast ride through the elaborate grydscaen post apocalyptic world and we will be enhancing the story with new moments and greater vision. The volume grydscaen: dissonance will also highlight the short stories which were published separately as “Read Only Memory” and the long part short story “Blue.” And we may write a new story for that volume just to make the rerelease unique.
The grydscaen universe is rich and deep with thought provoking commentary on the present day and thoughts about the future of technology and how it will both help and detrimentally hurt society as a whole. I got things to say still and the hacker Rom has a big mouth with his Packrat Underground radio show and his subversive rants criticizing the Elite government and their oppression and crack down on freedoms just like the current administration in the United States. Rom just wants to shout out loud from the rooftops as he zips the Newsfeed, writing grydscaen lets this writer do just that!
A little bit of a confession. The past year has been trying and it is now time for me to focus back on myself and my readers. With my hatsukoi in the picture I was not able at all to focus on my writing. The agent helped me to see the power that grydscaen brought to my life and I wanted to continue reaching readers and bring the important messages of equality, respect, ending bullying, mental health awareness, end to discrimination, open source technology, stopping class warfare and racial hatred, opposition to government overreach and freedom of information to the masses. I am not be the next bestseller but I have a message I can tell and the grydscaen books have had their share of time on the Amazon Best Seller list in the Top 10 for hard scifi and cyberpunk. Currently the character Rom’s story in the short novelette “A Storm’s Coming” is being used by four counseling centers to help LGBT and homeless teens with self esteem. The fact that I can be a part of that brings me joy as a writer.
